Muslim Woman

Muslim Woman status does the Quran endows for women. The details are lengthy but their gist is that Islam / Quran calls both man and woman, Zauj (counter part) to each other which means companions.

Muslim Woman - Muslims have Changed their Direction

As long as Islam retained its pristine form, i.e., a system of life based on divine values, the system functioned in the manner mentioned above. There was rule of human thought within the framework of divine values. Afterwards when the Muslims lost the thread of reality, Islam was degraded to a religion. The substance of Deen gave way to token beliefs and lifeless rituals. The ummah was shackled by tradition. At this juncture two things happened:

Muslim Woman - Value of Life in Islam

Tags:
@ 01:03 AM (24 months, 29 days ago)
The laws of nature and the revealed values both work in the same
manner. The laws of nature, like lasting principles, are firm and
unchangeable. Human ingenuity, in the light of these laws derives new
theories, makes new revelations and goes on making inventions of
different kinds. Likewise, in a society that is established upon divine
revelations, the revealed values and principles provide unchangeable
boundaries. The society within this framework draws up operational
details as demanded by the needs of the permanent values. The
operational details provide the society with up to date mechanisms to
implement the revealed values and are regularly updated in accordance
with the changing times and the development of human thought. These
values and principles are themselves are not subject to change. The
operational or administrative details, in religious terminology are
called the Code of Religious Law (Shariat). The method through which
deletion and addition, modification and reform, continues is called the
exercise of judgment or innovation (ijtihad). This means to innovate
through intellectual exertion, i.e., the use of thought and reflection,
which the Quran so avidly supports.

Muslim Woman - Islam Tells us for PAUSE AND REFLECT

Tags:
@ 10:22 AM (25 months, 2 days ago)

One of the marvels of the Quran is its style. When dealing with a
subject, whether facts about the universe or the deep mysteries of the
human brain, the language is simple, clear, eloquent, and highly
focused. As a result of this highly focused way of expression, this
comprehensive revealed book of nature and complete code of conduct is
so small that if it is printed in fine English type, it will not spread
over more than a few pages.

Here is an example of this highly focused way of expression: Messenger
Mohammad peace be upon him had been preaching the Quranic way of living
to the people of Mecca for quite some time, and they had been
vehemently opposing it. Finally one day the Messenger peace be upon him
told them that instead of having lengthy discussions he wanted to have
a very brief word with them. The Meccans did not mind listening to a
few words. When the Messenger peace be upon him found them willing, he
told them the word is very important and worthy of their full
attention, but if it is inconvenient for everyone to pause, then one or
two people at a time can stop and listen. When the people became
psychologically attentive he told them that all he had to say was, Be
in the habit of reflecting. (34:46)

In these few words the Quran has brought to light many hidden facts of
human life. The real significance and true import of these thought
provoking words can only be appreciated by those people (nations) who
are aware of the power and scope of human intellect and imagination.
Suffice it to say that the Quran constantly exhorts Muslims to reason,
think, reflect, and deliberate. It goes so far as to say, the people
who do not use these faculties are not human beings. They are living
their lives on the animal level, even worse than that. These are the
cursed people.

Muslim Woman - Islam Discuss Intellectual Evolution

Tags:
@ 12:48 AM (25 months, 6 days ago)

People with superficial knowledge usually reject the validity of the
theory of evolution on the grounds that human beings did not evolve
into a higher species. They ignore the fact that evolution no longer
takes place in bodies or forms. The evolution of life into human form
is the beginning of intellectual evolution and this evolution is still
taking place. Consider from an intellectual point of view that the cave
dwellers of hundreds of thousands of years ago and the moon conquering
humans of today belong to the same species. When it comes to
intelligence, today's humans are definitely different than the cave
dwellers of long ago.

The purpose of divine revelation is to activate and polish the human
intellect and increase its field of activity. The Quran constantly
appeals to reason and experiment. It says, "These people do not ponder
and reflect on the Quran. It seems as if their minds have locked
themselves up from the inside so that nothing can get into them."
(47:24).
According to the Quran, those people who readily believe in
anything without first questioning or thinking over it are not
Momineen. While describing the traits of the Momineen Allah Almighty
says, these are the people who do not accept without scrutiny and
deliberation. (25:73)
They accept His signs on the basis of knowledge
and insight. As far as the vastness of the field of human thought and
reflection is concerned, the Quran says; Allah Almighty brings forward
the clues and hints in such a fashion thereby enabling you to reflect
on this life and the hereafter." (2:219)

Muslim Woman - Jihad; A Question Today

Tags:
@ 11:22 AM (25 months, 9 days ago)

The concept of Jihad in Islam has been grossly
misunderstood, rather distorted. In the West, where it has
been presented as barbarism, as aggressive use of brute
force. The term militant Islam, which has been in vogue in
the world Press recently, is a follow-up of this very
approach to the fundamental concept of Islam and a
continuation of the old Jihad phobia of the non Muslims.
Jihad means striving utmost to achieve an objective. The
primary objective before the Muslims is establishment of a
social order based on the Quranic fundamental principles.
All efforts to that end fall with in the meaning of Jihad.
Armed fight against formidable resistance by self-seeking
people, which is called Qatal is also Jihad and has been
allowed by the Quran. Otherwise, Islam is a Deen of peace
and safety.

Muslim Woman: Pray

Tags:
@ 05:50 AM (25 months, 11 days ago)
When human beings developed tools for self defense and
gradually advanced in science, they tended to drift away
from religion. They found security in science rather than
prayer because science gave them control over the forces
Of nature. Priesthood considered this attitude as an
attack on religion itself. This led to a continuous battle
of religion with science.History bears ample testimony to
this continuous struggle. A classic example of this is the
battle of creation versus evolution. Thus we see that
there seems to be no single reason as to why people pray.
Everyone can come up with his or her own answer and feel
satisfied. In fact, this is what we normally do. The
answer that transcends space, time, circumstance and human
emotion can only come from God which means His book, the
Quran.

Muslim Woman: Muslims of Today

Tags:
@ 10:22 PM (25 months, 13 days ago)

Many Muslims especially of influence in society think that
the idea of unity of humankind is an unrealistic goal and
therefore, should be abandoned. According to them, this may
be a romantic or an exotic idea but it is an unattainable
goal. They think that Muslims waste their time in talking
about the unity of humankind when they themselves are badly
divided. They catalog a long list of such divisions from
Muslim history. Wars fought and continue to be fought
amongst themselves and millions of Muslims killed by
Muslims are given as proofs from past and present history
to support their claim that Muslim unity is not possible,
let alone the unity of humankind. How can then one talk
about Muslim unity when their past history has been so
divisive, they are quick to remind everyone. These are
mostly the feelings of the secular liberal or progressive
minded Muslims. This feeling gives them intellectual
satisfaction and a sense of psychological security. The
conservative minded Muslims are no different. In fact, they
put a religious and a sacred twist to the differences among
Muslims. From every religious pulpit they announce that the
differences and divisions among Muslims are the blessings
of Allah Almighty. Remember, the Quran does not support
this chapter 3 verse 103.

Muslim Woman: Concept of Pilgrimage in Islam

Tags:
@ 02:39 AM (25 months, 16 days ago)
Pilgrimage in Islam traditionally recognize as Hajj, which
had been discussed in Quran with detail. What is its
importance, background and reason perform is almost
manipulated during centuries. Here a short synopsis of this
pilgrimage known as Hajj in the light of Quran. The word
Hajj is from Hujjat, which means to discuss and find the
solution to the problems. At this annual event, must
discuss the problems and find the solutions for the
problems facing the Ummah. Annual program must be spelled
out in front of the Ummah and in the subsequent year the
goals achieved throughout the year should be presented at
the next Hajj. This is the place where unified policy of
the Muslim world must be charted out. It should become
United Nations of Islam. This should be in addition to
present rituals of Hajj.

Muslim Woman: Unity of Human Origin

Tags:
@ 01:59 AM (25 months, 19 days ago)

In Quran it has been said that We have created you all
from one breath of life. But the perception of life as an
organic unity is a slow achievement, and depends for its
growth on a people’s entry into the main current of world-
events. This opportunity was brought to Islam by the rapid
development of a vast empire. No doubt, Christianity, long
before Islam, brought the message of equality to mankind;
but Christian Rome did not rise to the full apprehension
of the idea of humanity as a single organism. As Flint
rightly says, No Christian writer and still less, of
course, any other in the Roman Empire, can be credited
with having had more than a general and abstract
conception of human unity. And since the days of Rome the
idea does not seem to have gained much in depth and root
age in Europe. On the other hand, the growth of
territorial nationalism, with its emphasis on what is
called national characteristics, has tended rather to kill
the broad human element in the art and literature of
Europe. It was quite otherwise with Islam. Here the idea
was neither a concept of philosophy nor a dream of poetry.
As a social movement the aim of Islam was to make the idea
a living factor in the Muslim’s daily life, and thus
silently and imperceptibly to carry it towards fuller
fruition.

Muslim Woman: Saving Life of a Human Being

Tags:
@ 09:00 PM (25 months, 21 days ago)

The Israelites were ordained that if they killed a single person unjustly, it would be taken as if they had destroyed the whole of mankind and if they saved a single person's life, it would be as if they had saved the whole of mankind. This verse is very important in chapter 5 verse 32 Of  Quran. The story of the two sons of Adam which was on everybody's lips among the Israelites, in fact represented their own emotional state of being ever-ready to kill one another. That is why We ordained that if anyone slew a person, unless it be life for life in case of a murder or it be as a punishment for spreading mischief in the land, it would be as if he slew the whole of mankind; and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the whole mankind.

Muslim Woman: Practice of Bribery in a Society

Tags:
@ 10:42 AM (25 months, 23 days ago)

The practice of bribery may be restricted to specific sections of
society, but the area flooded by ill-gotten money is the world of
business-trade, buying and selling, factories, shops, etc. The Quran
has laid down various rules of conduct in this regard. Take trade for
example: those who are Convinced, Don't consume each other's money
illicitly, social life necessitates buying and selling, so that it
should be done in agreement of the parties involved, otherwise, it is
just like killing others. God wishes to save you from it,4:29 The verse
in point resolves the problem of trade. But actually the exact opposite
happens. Shopkeepers unite and decide prices. If a prospective customer
finds a price too high, he is told to try elsewhere. Failing to get a
lower rate, he is forced to pay the price for the asking. That is
obviously not in agreement of the parties involved but the shopkeepers
maintain, wrongfully of course, that that is the case. They obviously
exemplify the verse: Many go astray, as many find the right path Quran
2:26. The shopkeeper, who insists on charging his quoted price and
maintains that it does not impinge on the agreement of the customer,
does not himself feel the same way when the roles are reversed. That is
why the Quran goes on to say: Then whoever commits it, does it
deliberately and wrongfully; the end of it will be hellfire, which is
easy for God to do, 4:30. As trading involves the manufacturers,
stockiest, wholesalers, retailers as well as consumers, fair trade can
only exist in a system which controls profits and prices.

Muslim Woman: Woman and Quran

Tags:
@ 04:45 AM (25 months, 26 days ago)

However, the Muslim criteria of fixing the status of a woman, or man, are neither these social laws nor this moral code. For the Muslims, there is only one standard under the sky, and that is the book of God, which they profess to believe in. What status does the Quran endows for woman. The details are lengthy, but their gist reminds me of a joke which Allama Iqbal used to relate. He would say, If I were not a Muslim, and I had studied the Quran like an ordinary student, then I would have concluded that this book was written by a woman, who was taking revenge on man, for the usurped rights of her community. If one studies the religions and cultures of the world, it leaves no doubt in one's mind that a woman has been pushed to extreme degradation. On the other hand, in the Quranic study it appears as if she has been favored very much. For a start, the Quran has rejected the common belief that God created men (Adam) first and then woman (Eve) was created out of his rib. By now, you must have understood that according to the Quran, this very concept that human beings were created by a special couple called Adam and Eve, is wrong. The Quran, in effect, presents Adam as the representative of mankind or humanity.
