Muslim Woman

Religion is as old as the rise of self consciousness in men but its origin, as that of man is shrouded in obscurity. A man has probably lived on earth for about a million years. During the greater part of this period, he had no civilization and has not left his impress on any durable material. All we know about him is based on his fossilized remains and while they tell us a good deal about his physical shape and structure, they tell us little about the man in him. Men acquired some rudiments of civilization when he began to work on stone and metal and to shape for himself tools, which hitherto he had taken ready made from nature. The remains of his artifacts, however shed valuable light on his developing needs and beliefs.

In a community of men born and brought up in historical traditions and institutions with particular beliefs and attitudes towards treating their women. They are “Muslims” for no other reason than that for generations they have been called by that name. In other words, their birth and environment alone entitles them to be described as such irrespective of their choice and understand of the term. Above all, as pointed out earlier he term does not necessarily have any link with the Quran. The behavior of a conventional “Muslim” may only accidentally conform to or belief the Quran, just as much as the behavior of a Hindu and a Christian, a capitalist and a communist. In general, the attitude of men towards women is not above criticism. The subjugation of women in some form or the other has been a universal evil.

The fact of the matter is that no boy is born by his own decision to be a boy nor a girl is born by hers. Hence to consider girls (or women) to be inferior to boys (or men) is just like accepting the misconceptions mentioned earlier which have been negated by the Holy Quran. Nevertheless, to consider men superior to women, is against the basic principles of the Holy Quran and negates God's designs. According to the Holy Quran, superiority depends on the individual qualities (developed personality, character, and one's deeds) and not by virtue of birth. In Islam's basic principles, men and women are equal partners.

The study examines the viability of human intellect through which the man has made many an awe inspiring success and con­cludes that the inherent weakness underlying his ideals or his way of life has undermined his constructive genius and has brought a disastrous end to his efforts. The main reason attributed to his phenomenon is that the human intellect helps little because it is not aware of any source of knowledge other than itself. The man has been endeavoring to understand the nature of human self and to devise strategies for the development of human personality but has encountered numerous enigmas, threats and challenges.
