Muslim Woman: The Role of the Mosque (masjid)

The Mosque in Islamic history was the focal point where political, social, and religious activities were perfectly blended together. The concept of Islamic ideology paid as much attention to a man’s well-being and welfare in this world as much as the life hereafter. In this sense the role of the mosque has always been instrumental in the social-moral and political uplift of the Muslim Community. However, in the later period after Khilafat-e-Rashida, the period of first four pious caliphs with the decline of the political supremacy of the Muslims resulting in their disintegration under foreign rule, the concept and role of the mosque also underwent fundamental changes. Consequently the active and dynamic role the mosque played in the life of the Ummah in the period of our prophet and caliphs was reduced to a place of rituals and worship. The later concept continues up to today. This has not only rendered the mosque ineffective as a center of social uplift but it has rather indirectly or directly increased the sectarianism and parochialism among Muslims. It is therefore of paramount importance that the present concept of the role of mosques be analysed and redefined in the light of its original concept and function in the days of the Prophet and in the context of the present needs of the Muslim community.

International crime is a growing threat in the 21st Century. This crime will rejoin as one of the most dangerous global threats for 21st Century. Even today the growing power and influence of organized groups are the mounting significant threats to the democratic institutions and free market systems. In 10 years (says a study Report), driven by globalization and erosion of state authority, the international criminal threat is most likely to be more diversified. The organized groups of criminals would become a viable alternative to independent brokers by establishing sophisticated networks to facilitate evasion or international sanctions by rogue regimes and/or terrorist groups. Emerging democracies engaged in wide ranging reforms would be the most vulnerable to it.

When the Quran says that those who do not utilize their mental faculties are living like animals, firstly it brings to light the power and importance of human intellect, and secondly, it gives insight into the history of creation and evolution. According to the Quran, as supported by modern scientific discoveries, life (not the life of an individual or a species) started with the creation of a single cell. This single cell, through evolutionary processes reached the human form. In this evolutionary journey of life there are two points worth noting:

Mecca or Makkah (in full: Makkah al-Mukkaramah; Arabic) is a city in the Hijaz  region of western Saudi Arabia . It is revered as the holiest site of the Islamic religion, and a pilgrimage to it is required of all Muslims. The Hajj or Haj is the Pilgrimage to Mecca and is the fifth of the "Five Pillars of Islam". Any Muslim who can afford to do so is grateful to make the pilgrimage to Mecca at least once in a lifetime. A Muslim is a believer in or follower of Islam. The word Muslim means one who submits and implies complete submission to the will of God (Allah Almighty). Muslims believe that nature is itself Islamic, since it follows natural laws placed by Allah Almighty. Thus, a Muslim strives to submit to God's instructions every step of the way. The holiest book for Muslims is the Quran, or the 'Koran' in English. Muslims believe the Arabic Quran as the direct revelation of Allah Almighty; translations do exist to other languages but are not regarded as the literal word of God. For Muslims, a pilgrimage to Mecca is required as one of the Five Pillars of the faith.

Every year about three million gather for the major pilgrimage, or Hajj .The Hajj or Haj is the Pilgrimage to Mecca and is the fifth of the "Five Pillars of Islam. The focal point of Mecca is the Kaaba, the "House of God" believed by Muslims to have been built by Abraham peace be upon him and his son Ishmael peace be upon him, and which is covered in a gold-embroidered black fabric. Pilgrims circle the Kaaba seven times and may also try to touch or kiss its cornerstone, the Black Stone the Black Stone (called Al-Hajarul Aswad in Arabic). The importance of Mecca for Muslims is inestimable. A Muslim is a believer in or follower of Islam. The direction of prayer is known as the Qibla. The Kaaba or Kaaba, in the mosque known as Masjid al Haram in Mecca (Makkah), is one of the holy places of Islam. Some have identified Mecca with an ancient city called Bakkah, a place mentioned in surah 3:95 of the Quran. It is said to be the site of the first mosque, and therefore it is by some identified with the city of Mecca.

Muslim Woman - Muslims were the masters

There was a time when Muslims were the masters of the
earth, controller of the destiny, but today they are on a
path of continuous decline. Their Condition is horrible,
they face miserable poverty,illiteracy, malnutrition,
disease and sickness. There is a feeling of
helplessness, hopelessness, and frustration among the
Muslims. They are just living, for the sake of
living ,without any sense of direction. Neither the
rulers, nor the intellectuals of this nation, have any
plan, for this huge mass of suffering humanity. It is
really painful to see them suffer, despite the best lands,
resources, and vast number. It is very important for those,
who are concerned about the future of the Ummah, to ponder
about as to what is the cause of Muslim decline? What if
anything can be done to end this misery?
